Why is this a "must watch" movie?
Firstly, it's a really easy watch. It grabs the audience's attention from the very beginning. I had a genuine laugh throughout the entire movie. The set-up of the movie is really beautiful, especially the masquerade party scene. There are many great actors and actresses in this movie, stretching from Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine to Bree Turner, Missy Pyle and Faizon Love. If you're looking for the perfect blend of romance and comedy, this movie is the one.

Moxie

Released: 3 March 2021
Director: Amy Poehler
Cast: Hadley Robinson, Josie Totah, Nico Hiraga, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Josephine Langford
Duration: 111 minutes
Genre: Comedy/Music

Plot: After deciding to be a more daring, shy quiet teen Vivian starts an anonymous magazine calling out sexism. Power to females!!

Why is this a "must watch" movie?
It's really empowering to females. This movie shows us that we also HAVE voices and that we should be more daring and stand up for what we want. What's the worst that could happen? This movie dives into the patriarchal society we live in. I love how the movie depicts sexism and women finally having the guts to stand up to it. It is, after all, a comedy yet it deals with a lot of serious topics and doesn't make a joke out of it. The movie is light-hearted and empowering. If you're looking to feel bolder about your feminism, watch Moxie!

Yes Day

Plot: After saying no to their children for almost everything, Allison and Carlos decide to grant them a yes day, where they are free to ask for anything, regardless of how crazy it is.

Why is this a "must watch" movie?
This movie is really special. The roles were written for the cast. The movie is fun to watch, nerve-wracking at times and overall wholesome. It dives into family dynamics and what parenting is really about. If you want to get your mind off of something and need to have a laugh and feel comforted, I recommend watching Yes Day.

Fear Street: 1994

Released: 28 June 2021
Director: Leigh Jenaik
Cast: Kiana Madeira, Maya Hawke, Benjamin Flores Jr., Sadie Sink
Duration: 107 minutes
Genre: Horror/Mystery

Plot: After a series of killings in Shadyside, the residents begin to question whether the old witch tale of Sarah Fier is true.

Why is this a "must watch" movie?
Based on the trilogy by R.L. Stine (who is one of the best horror genre authors), the movie piques your interest from the very beginning. From the aesthetics to the originality of the story and how well each part flows into the next, I wouldn't miss a beat in saying that this is one of the best horror/mystery movies that I've watched in a long time (and I am a horror junky). The movie is filled with plot twists, which makes you so curious to find out what really is happening in Shadyside.
You need to watch the entire trilogy in order to enjoy Fear Street to its full capacity.

He's All That

Released: 27 August 2021
Director: Mark Waters
Cast: Addison Rae, Tanner Buchanan, Madison Pettis, Kourtney Kardashian
Running time: 88 minutes
Genre: Romance/ Comedy

Plot: After upcoming influencer, Padgett Sawyer (Rae) loses over half her following on social media, she makes a bet with one of her best friends (Pettis) which entails her being able to transform an unpopular peer (Buchanan) into prom king in order to prove her worth.

Why is this a "must watch" movie?
Oh, how the tables have turned! Let me just start off by saying that I was so adamant about watching this movie and couldn't wait for a proper quality copy to be loaded onto a free website, that I decided to subscribe to Netflix with the last bit of money that I had. Do I regret it? No. The movie is cinematic gold. Based on 1999's "She's All That", the movie takes a modern twist to the original, throwing social media into the mix. I genuinely enjoyed that it threaded so close to the original movie and it shows that not only guys make bets about girls. Oh, and the way the characters portrayed their emotions was so perfectly done that I felt like I was there with them. I will always remember how perfectly Buchanan delivered the "am I a bet" line. Just as good as the original, if not better.

The Fallout

Released: 27 January 2022
Director: Megan Park
Cast: Jenna Ortega, Maddie Ziegler, Julie Bowen, Shailene Woodley
Duration:  92 minutes
Genre: Drama

Plot: After a traumatic school shooting, (unpopular) Vada forms a friendship with (popular) Mia. Vada starts to re-evaluate her life and the people in it, while also reinventing herself.

Why is this a "must watch" movie?
This movie helps shed light on the severity of school shootings. The emotions of the characters are felt right through the screen, which gives the movie the ability to grip you from the second it starts. The Fallout centres around what happens in the aftermath of an awful event, but it also shows the viewer how lost teenagers really are. The movie really does show how different people deal with grief and trauma and it's so good but so short, I wish it could've been a series instead.
